I've actually finished a sewing project for myself.

It's the handkerchief top I was going to tie-dye a sheet for but in fact I used purchased fabric in shades of green with black accents.

It was Mccalls 6119 and I'm going to wear it out with the girls tomorrow night.

I will post some pics when I'm all dressed up!

Next week I have to finish the towel dress.

Cutting out is complete

It's taken several hours but now I have a big pile of chopped up towels.

The kids think I'm mad.

Maybe I am!

I think a slightly more exciting plan is required for tomorrow.

Beach dress contd.

I forgot to say I'm using this ancient OOP Butterick pattern 3474 and making View A, the white one, only calf length and in fetching navy white and red vertical stripes. I'll look like a deck chair, or possibly a caravan awning.

'Bodenesque' towel dresses

Right.
Well you know I was going to make my tie dye bedsheet top this week.
As per usual, I've been blown off course. This time, it's by the arrival of rather nice two packs of beach towels into Penneys. Photo to follow.
I've been on the lookout for suitable (cheap) beach towels to make a Boden type beach dress, like the ones they make for kids, only much bigger, and not so expensive!
The towels are now washed, ironed (ye gods) and on the sittingroom floor with pieces of tracing paper on them. They may stay there for a while as I consider the logistics, or I may jump in and start hacking with a scissors.
